I learned a lot on Friday, but one key takeaway: if you see our speaker, Robert Peek, MPA, CTL from Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) at the grocery store, try to ask him something more unique than the status of the: Cruise ships in Jax, Harbor Deepening project, or Supply Chain woes.

Why? Because he answered those questions at the JAX Chamber‘s Downtown Council of Jacksonville breakfast this morning, and you should’ve been there!

Kidding aside, thanks to everyone that joined us today, including Elizabeth Bagan, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C and Nichole Mobley from JAX Chamber Professional Women’s Council, several of our newest members, and several soon to be members. (Contact Meg Hynes to join!)

Have a great weekend!

May 15th (this Friday) at 8am- please get your virtual backdrops, crazy hats, and fantastic questions formulated, because the JAX Chamber‘s Downtown Council of Jacksonville will welcome Nikki Kimbleton, Director of Public Affairs for the City of Jacksonville as our speaker.

  • Virtual backdrops? Because we’re still virtual and using Zoom
  • Crazy hats? Because Gracie Simendinger has one she really wants to show off, and hey, it’s Friday!
  • Fantastic questions? Because Nikki would love to answer your questions about the Mayor’s initiatives, construction projects, COVID related timelines and plans to open up, host sporting events again, etc.

In addition, we’ll have a virtual breakout session for smaller group networking, just like last time. You’ll get an opportunity to get to know a handful (7 or 8, most likely) of people a bit better and share your story at the same time.

This is a free event, open to everyone, and a GREAT way to see the type of people and speakers that make up our Council and Council events. You MUST register, though, here:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d49a9ac2ca4f94-jaxchamber2

Thanks as always, please let us know if you plan to make it 🙂

TOMORROW: Friday, February 7th, please join the JAX Chamber‘s Downtown Council as we welcome Florida State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial District, Melissa Nelson, as our speaker.
Melissa will be talking about some really topical things: the JEA situation, human trafficking, and what the future holds for Jacksonville… It should be a very popular event, and a very informative conversation.

As per usual, we would really like to hear from a Downtown Council member, for the 5-Minute Spotlight Speaker portion, but we don’t have anyone locked in, yet… First come, first serve!

We expect this to be a highly attended breakfast, so please register ahead of time so we know you’re coming: https://www.downtowncouncil.org/events/dtc-meeting-february-7-2020/
As always, we’ll have yummy food from The Bread & Board, along with hot coffee from Jacksonville’s own Martin Coffee… All we need, is you.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you there!

This Friday, January 17th, stop by and find out why the JAX Chamber‘s Downtown Council of Jacksonville is beginning the year as the SECOND largest Council… And, at the same time: help us grow to be the largest in 2020!

Offsite at Manifest Distilling JAX Chamber Downtown Council

Is it because we have some of the greatest speakers in the entire JAX Chamber?

The best guests?

The best breakfast?

The best meeting locations?

The absolute best members?

Yes.

We’ve had tremendous growth as of late, and frankly, we have a lot of new members. Karen Mathis from the Jacksonville Daily Record will be our Member Spotlight Speaker of the week, but the main focus of this week’s breakfast meeting will be networking and getting to know one another.

We’ll probably take a page out of Wendy Norfleet, Ph.D.‘s book and get some networking games going, and it’s probably safe to say we’ll learn some interesting facts about people we thought we knew.

Yummy Food from Bread and Board

As always, yummy food from Laura Edgecombe and the Bread & Board and steaming coffee from Ben Johnson and Martin Coffee Company will be on hand.

We start chatting at 7:30am, while the official meeting starts at 8:00am. We’ll set you free at 9:00.

While you don’t need to pre-register, it definitely makes things easier, if you do: https://www.downtowncouncil.org/events/dtc-meeting-january-17-2020/

Thanks for reading, and see you there!

Exciting things are happening at the JAX Chamber Downtown Council!

We ended 2019 as the fastest growing, second largest Council in the Chamber. We added a net of 16 new members, which puts us within reach of the top spot, held strong by the wonderfully active Professional Women’s Council / PWC.

We’ve grown because people like you visit and decide to stick around!

Our members stay because they meet and make friends that can help grow their (and your) business.

And, you know, sometimes they win stuff. 😁😁😁

We meet the 1st and 3rd Friday morning of each month, at the Old St Andrews Church. We begin networking at 7:30am, with the main program getting under way at 8am. We will be done by 9am.

The Old St Andrews Church / event venue is located at:

317 A.P.Randolph St

Jacksonville, FL 32202

You can expect between 45 and 60 people at each breakfast, so bring a bunch of cards and a concise intro about you and what you do.

As our namesake says, our speakers do tend to focus on Downtown Jacksonville, but since downtown affects a much larger region, from Orange Park, Riverside, Nocatee and even St Augustine, we get a very wide range of speaker and subject.

You can read more about our council at downtowncouncil.org, or feel free to contact me at 904-219-3891 if you’d rather call.

About me: my name is Brian Tuttle, and I am a Licensed Jacksonville Realtor and technology consultant. While I speak for myself here, I work with Keller Williams Jacksonville and Saxon Business Systems / Xerox, and would be honored to speak with you about your copiers, office technology, or Jacksonville Real Estate needs.
