Xerox may be known for copiers, but they continue to add to their massive patent portfolio for technologies only tangentially related.

One of those patents was just awarded, and uses blockchain technology to track and confirm a document’s integrity. Using decentralized nodes to verify authenticity along the way, the patent claims to be able to notify users of any change or alterations to an electronic document.

Read about it over at Cointelegraph.

OpenMind has a quick write up about some of the advancements being made in the 3D Printing industry. Amazing stuff that they think will be commonly used in the near future to make everything from small replacement parts to jet engines.

They’re in good company, as the MIT Technology Review called economical 3d Printing (with metal) one of 2018’s breakthrough technologies.

Read about it over here.

When I see these videos, usually from Boston Dynamics (like this one), I’m amazed at how quickly the technology seems to be progressing.

I assume the biggest driver of this type of progression is the software, but is it? It was not that long ago that the Atlas robot (or its predecessor) was tethered to a power source. Then they had the little weedeater-engine powered beast.

But now, the battery technology has improved to the point that we can watch this type of performance. Since we should expect battery life is only going to get better, when will we see humanoid robots like this as human helpers or even replacements?

Amazing stuff. Read about it over here.
