Wow, what a great turnout! The 3rd JAX Chamber “Coffee & Commerce” event was hosted at my office at Saxon Business Systems in Jacksonville, and I’m happy to report, it was fantastic! Over 100 people registered and packed our showroom for almost two hours last Tuesday.

Being host to one of these things, in my opinion, requires two things: Coffee, and people. Lots of coffee, and lots of people.

Imagine my stress level when the caterer ran into a bit of traffic.

With the coffee. Ugh.

But it worked out. By 8:15, the food and the coffee arrived, and the crisis was averted, just in time for a big rush of people.

These JAX Chamber events were originally planned to be a quarterly event, but I believe the response has been good enough that there are now bi-monthly events planned and reserved through January of 2020. The next event, in fact, is scheduled for May 7th, at 927 Events in Downtown Jacksonville. I’ve already registered, right here: JAX Chamber Coffee & Commerce

We had a great turnout at the Saxon Business Systems Jacksonville HQ today. While we were a few booths short of what was available at PRINT 18 in Chicago, we had a good group of people and companies represented.

  • Nuance highlighted one of their badge tap copier authentication applications, Equitrac
  • Docushare showed off the latest version, Docushare Flex, which is a subscription model / SaaS document and content management system.
  • XMPie was there, showing variable data printing software and giving away cool personalized calendars.
  • EFI took several deep dives into the Fiery driver and its color precise controls.
  • Last, but certainly not least: our own Xerox Free Flow representative showed off some really interesting anti-counterfeiting print technology. We saw microprint and hidden messages, invisible to the naked eye but clear with a loupe, a UV light, or an IR camera. (depending on the type of print)

Overall, the show seemed to be received very well. One guest asked why we did this, seeming to comment on the extensiveness of the event: we do this because it shows that we are always trying to bring more value to our customers. We handle copiers, of course, but we do not rest on that success, we go out, find other ideas, and bring them to our customers.

Thanks to all that attended the Saxon Security Expo and open house!

Are Printers really the worst part of IT? https://briantuttle.org/2018/09/are-printers-the-worst-part-of-it/ Thu, 13 Sep 2018 10:47:11 +0000 http://briantuttle.org//?p=1 Someone over at Spiceworks posed that question this week. While many have a ‘fun’ printer story to tell, it seems that lofty title is reserved for something (someone) else… Read the discussion here.
